CREATIVE ADVENTURE DIRECTOR

Nikki is a filmmaker, photographer, creative storyteller, and outdoor enthusiast who is happiest with a camera in her hand.  Her work is informed by her bachelor’s degree in Documentary Production, and Peace, Justice and Conflict Studies at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois.

Nikki’s early film work includes the documentary short, Barefoot Lawyers of Uganda, which won the 2016 ‘MY HERO’ International Film Award. In 2017, Nikki started Nik House Media LLC, a company that works with non-profits and small businesses to help tell stories through photography and film that will expand the reach of their work.  She has served clients in a wide range of industries, from restaurants to retail, to national and international nonprofits, and many more. She continues to pursue her interest in documentary film and is currently working as a story advisor and editor on feature documentary, ‘Tamara: Untold Story of Tamara de Lempicka and the Art of Survival.’

During quarantine in 2020, she started a weekly film fest called ‘Stay-at-Home Film Fest,” which ran for 10 straight weeks, broadcasted live on YouTube. The festival shared 76 films in total, made by over 30 filmmakers, many of them first-time filmmakers. In 2021, Nikki became a Creative Partner of Open Roads Academy, an adventure travel and documentary storytelling company. In her first year with Open Roads, she helped lead a 5-day river trip down the Colorado river for a multi-generational group from around the country, created a visual online presence, and shot, edited, and produced two promotional films for the organization.

At the heart of it, Nikki is passionate about conveying the essence of people, experiences, and communities. She is inspired by a firm belief that everyone has a story worth sharing. She loves to travel and to be exposed to different ways of living to promote growth and expand the mind. Part of her love for photography is the way it inspires others to travel, to see beauty in nature, and to inspire compassion for people all over the world. She currently lives in Aspen, Colorado where she balances her creative career with her love of all board sports, and the call of the mountains.
