Multi Emmy nominated Abby Lynn Kang Davis primarily collaborates with storytellers and curators in nonfiction. Throughout her career, Abby has focused on breaking underrepresented voices into the commercial film and television industry. Her specialized skill set in identifying viable talent, advocacy and mentorship on behalf of unknown storytellers has garnered millions in sales revenue, top tier film festival invitations and award nominations. 

Abby began her career at Freestyle Picture Company (FPC) (Tangerine, The Florida Project) where she assisted in the directorial debuts of top female talent such as Jennifer Aniston, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Eva Longoria and Demi Moore. During her time at FPC, Abby also worked in conjunction with brands such as Glamour Magazine, Canon, A&E and Lifetime Television. In 2011, Abby began the next phase of her career at Preferred Content (PC), one of the leading film, television & digital sales, production and advisory companies. While at PC, Abby assembled creative and financial elements for PC’s original documentary features and television series as well as oversaw the worldwide and North American distribution rights for its documentary film slate. Over her six year tenure at PC, Abby was responsible for bringing multiple projects to market most notably Blood Brother (Sundance 2013), Rich Hill (Sundance 2014), The Nightmare (Sundance 2015), The Bad Kids (Sundance 2016) and 78/52 (Sundance 2017) and executive producing Emmy nominated Long Shot (Telluride 2017/Netflix Originals), multi Emmy winning 306 Hollywood (Sundance 2018/PBS POV), Wrinkles the Clown (Magnolia) and the television docuseries The Devil You Know (Viceland).

Most recently Abby served as Head of Originals and Business Development at Breakwater Studios (BS), one of the first venture backed branded content studios by MWM's Gigi Pritzker. Among the several projects she developed and produced while at BS was The New York Times’ Emmy nominated series Almost Famous (Telluride 2020 / Op Docs), the Oscar nominated A Concerto is a Conversation (Sundance 2020 / Op Docs) and the Oscar shortlisted The Queen of Basketball (Tribeca 2021 / Op Docs).

Currently Abby is the founder of character., a producing and consulting company that focuses on discovering and advocating for underrepresented storytellers. Abby advises an array of clients, including Chapman University, KQED California and Disney+ and currently sits on the board of Steve James’ media non profit organization, Kartemquin.

Abby graduated from Western Michigan University near her hometown of Saginaw, Michigan. Four days after graduating, Abby moved across the country to Los Angeles with nothing but naive determination and her 2001 Ford Taurus named Black Shadow (RIP). Ten years, four apartments, three jobs, hundreds of films, countless friends, and a 2018 Honda Civic later, Abby moved back across the country to Chicago to be closer to her family and friends. She currently splits her time between Los Angeles and Chicago. When Abby is not in the studio or at a film festival, you can find her sampling every pizza joint in the greater-Chicago area or playing with her nieces, nephews, and three-legged Pitbull named Nelly.
